Democracy can function without democrats if there is a strong system of checks and balances in place to ensure that power is not concentrated in the hands of a few individuals or groups. This can be achieved through independent institutions, a free and fair electoral process, and a robust civil society that holds leaders accountable. Additionally, a well-informed and engaged citizenry is essential for the functioning of democracy, as they can actively participate in decision-making processes and hold their leaders accountable. Ultimately, while having individuals who believe in democratic principles is important, a functioning democracy relies on the strength of its institutions and the active participation of its citizens. **

A democracy without democrats would likely be a system in name only, as the absence of individuals who support democratic principles would undermine the functioning of democratic institutions. Without democrats, there would be no advocates for the protection of civil liberties, the rule of law, and the rights of minority groups. The absence of individuals committed to democratic values could lead to the erosion of democratic norms and the rise of authoritarian tendencies within the political system. In essence, a democracy without democrats would struggle to uphold the fundamental principles that define democratic governance. **

Liberals and Democrats are often used interchangeably in political discourse, but they are not the same. Liberals are individuals who generally support progressive social policies and advocate for government intervention in areas such as healthcare and education. Democrats, on the other hand, are members of the Democratic Party, which is a political party in the United States that encompasses a range of ideologies, including liberalism. Not all Democrats are liberals, as the party also includes moderates and conservatives. **

Republicans and Democrats are the two major political parties in the United States. Republicans generally advocate for smaller government, lower taxes, and a more conservative approach to social issues. Democrats, on the other hand, tend to support a larger government role in providing social services, higher taxes on the wealthy, and a more progressive stance on social issues such as healthcare and LGBTQ rights. The two parties also differ in their approaches to foreign policy, with Republicans typically favoring a more interventionist stance and Democrats often advocating for more diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. **

The Weimar Republic can be seen as a democracy without strong democratic support. While it was established as a democratic system with free elections and a constitution that guaranteed civil liberties, it faced significant challenges from both the political left and right. Many of the traditional elites, including the military and industrialists, were not fully committed to democratic principles and sought to undermine the republic. Additionally, the rise of extremist parties, such as the Communists and the Nazis, posed a threat to the stability of the democratic system. Therefore, while the Weimar Republic had democratic institutions, it lacked a strong foundation of democratic support and faced significant opposition from anti-democratic forces. **

The main difference between Democrats and Republicans lies in their political ideologies and policy priorities. Democrats generally advocate for progressive policies, such as social welfare programs, environmental protection, and government intervention in the economy to address inequality. On the other hand, Republicans typically support conservative policies, including lower taxes, limited government intervention, and a focus on individual responsibility. Additionally, the two parties often have differing views on social issues, such as abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and gun control. Overall, the differences between Democrats and Republicans reflect their distinct approaches to governance and societal issues. **

In 1933, the Democrats were focused on addressing the economic challenges of the Great Depression. They were supportive of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal policies, which aimed to provide relief, recovery, and reform to the country. Democrats believed in the government's role in stimulating the economy, creating jobs, and providing social welfare programs to help those most affected by the economic downturn. They also sought to regulate the financial industry and implement policies to prevent another economic crisis in the future. Overall, the Democrats in 1933 were focused on using government intervention to address the widespread suffering caused by the Great Depression. **
